Holi - Festival of Colors

Holi, is a religious Hindu festival celebrated by people all around the World.  There are numerous versions of the Origin of Holi, they may be different but they all signify one thing, "Triumph of Good over evil".  End of Winter and the Beginning of a new season, Spring season.

The main day, Holi, also known as Dhuli Vandana in Sanskrit, also Dhulheti, Dhulandi or Dhulendi, is celebrated by people throwing coloured powder and coloured water at each other. Bonfires are lit on the eve of the festival, also known as Holika Dahan (burning of Holika) or Chhoti Holi (little Holi). The bonfires are lit in memory of the miraculous escape that young Prahlad accomplished when Demoness Holika, sister of Hiranyakashipu, carried him into the fire. Holika was burnt but Prahlad, a staunch devotee of god Vishnu, escaped without any injuries due to his unshakable devotion. Holika Dahan is referred to as Kama Dahanam in South India.

Holi is celebrated at the end of the winter season on the last full moon day of the lunar month Phalguna (February/March), (Phalgun Purnima), which usually falls in the later part of February or March.

Congratulations to Team India and all the Indian fans around the world.   Well deserved Win for India.   WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS.

India has done it in a style.  ICC 2011 World cup comes to India after 28 years.   What a feeling,  excitement endless, and parties all night and all year long.  It is a great feeling when your team wins and even better when they win in style.  The SIX hit by MS Dhoni to finish the match was marvelous, the look in his eyes, was like, "Bring it on. Nobody can beat me today"  Few years back who would have thought that after loosing the first two important wickets of Virendra Sehwag and Sachin Tendulkar in the opening overs, India could go on and win a game for us.  But yes, 2011 and "TEAM" INDIA proved it to us.  It was a terrific Team effort.  Bowling was exceptional, fielding was good and batting was supported by Gautam Gambhir and Virat Kohli keeping the asking run rate steady at about 6 runs per over.  It is when Dhoni decided to bump up the ladder with a nod from the coach Kirsten, we knew that it was going to get interesting now.  And it sure did.  To win a Cricket game there are infinite things that has to go right with you and your team and in the same way your opponent team has to do things wrong and that is when a game is won.  This sure was India's Day as over a Billion (Irrespective of what Ravi Shastri thinks, 'thousands of people around the world') people all over the world were praying and hoping for India to win.  Such positive energy around the team and How could they loose this game.

One of the best chase and win India has ever had.  Finally a world cup for our little master, Sachin Tendulkar.
Winning the World Cup is the ultimate thing. It is the proudest moment of my life. It shows it is never too late --Sachin Tendulkar
Surti's Rejoice all around the city to celebrate this classic win.  Once again Congratulations Team India and all the Indians around the world.  Chak De India!
